The Center for Policing Equity (CPE) uses evidence based approaches to social justice to create social, cultural, and policy change for a more fair and just system. They idenitify the causes of racial disparities in law enforcement with the goal of bridging the divide of communication, generational mistrust and suffering. They are the 'Vox" of activism.
For their inaugural year, I worked with CPE to design an online and printed newsletter focusing on the scope and impact of their work. Sent out to high level donors they goal was to design a bold, branded, eye-catching print and online version.
After the murder of George Floyd, it was crucial to strike a balance between imagery that depicted the real unrest and public crtiticsm of the police, while striking a hopeful tone for the kind of collaboration and change that CPE works to create.
The email was sent out with an eye catching animated GIF (above) showing police and protestors joined together at a rally for George Floyd.
The online email version was designed first and the PDF layout for print expanded on the same design devices and branding. The PDF was sent to donors and avialble for download on CPE's website.
