The Center for Reproductive Rights developed a quarterly newsletter for high level donors focusing on the scope and impact of the Center’s work. The goal of the newsletter was to inspire collective enagagement by elevating the voices of the women and communities the Center defends worldwide.
I designed a template working closely with the staff writer on content and word count. Our challenge was to ensure that the text was concise and to draw in readers through visuals. And to tell stories that offer context and dignity, inspire compassion, and compel action.
The Front Lines went through many iterations as the audience and needs of the organization and the Development Department changed.
Scaling down on number of pages and limiting word count in order to demand less of the audience posed design challenges. These were solved by experimentation and testing, as well as preserving as many design elements as possible to draw the reader in and communicate the top level messages.
.
The printed version of Front Lines was adapted into a monthly emailed newsletter for the Global Legal Program. The design was simplified with handmade icons and featured top cases and a call to action. it was sent out to a curated list of partners, donors and activists.
